The Spanish Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) leads the South GRI, whose long-term goal is to integrate France, Portugal and Spain into a single regional gas market.
This region has an annual gas consumption of around 70 bcm/year, covering 17% of the EU's gas market. The South region hosts important LNG entry points, which contribute to the diversification of the EU gas supply.
