CALL FOR INTEREST

CALL FOR INTEREST

ACER calls on EU associations involved in the Electricity sector to express their interest to participate in the Grid Connection European Stakeholder Committee.

As part of its effort to ensure effective engagement of stakeholders in the Network Code implementation process, in close cooperation with ENTSO-E, ACER is launching a call for interest to participate in the Grid Connection European Stakeholder Committee (ESC). This ESC is one of three ESCs (with the Market and System Operation ESCs) which ACER will set up upon adoption of the Network Codes.

The Grid Connection ESC will adhere to similar principles agreed upon in the Terms of Reference of the Market ESC. The Grid Connection ESC is open to all EU associations, with a stake in the Grid Connection Network Codes (Grid Connection of Generators, HVDC connected Power Park Modules, Demand Connection).

The Terms of Reference for the Grid Connection ESC are available here.

When expressing its interest, each EU association is invited to:

  • Demonstrate its European-wide scope, as well as its involvement at regional and national levels;
  • Explain the stake it has in the implementation of the Grid Connection Network Codes;
  • Indicate the number of seats required justifying why this is so;
  • Commit to attend and actively participate in all the meetings and to cover the related costs;
  • To designate a contact person within your association.

All Grid Connection ESC member and non-member associations will at any time be able to access all the material and minutes of the ESCs, which will be publicly available and regularly updated on a dedicated online platform developed by ENTSO-E.

The expression of interest shall be sent by no later than 19 February 2016 EOB by email to electricity(at)acer.europa.eu  with the following subject in the email: ‘Expression of interest in the Grid Connection ESC’.

Next Steps

  1. After this deadline, ACER will consider all expressions of interest received and decide on the composition of the Grid Connection ESC in light of them. ACER will endeavour to form a Grid Connection ESC that represents diverse industry interests, as far as reasonably possible. Nonetheless, candidates should be aware that, due to space constraints and in order to maintain effectiveness, ACER must limit the number of places in the Grid Connection ESC. Therefore, ACER cannot guarantee that all parties expressing an interest will be able to take part in this ESC.
  2. The final ESC member list of the EU associations and the number of seats assigned to each of them will be made publicly available on ACER’s website.
  3. Within one month after the publication of the Grid Connection ESC member EU associations, the latter will be invited to indicate the names and contact details of its representatives (alternates can be designated in case the usual representative would not be able to attend one meeting).
  4. Following the publication of the ESC member list, ACER will aim to hold the first Grid Connection ESC in Ljubljana over the course of the next couple of months.
